Airplanes Airlines Airports
The airline industry is one in which I worked part-time for over 12 years and I combined this with going to the arts academy in The Hague, The Netherlands. In 2012, I became a full-time freelance photographer and since then have often worked for the airline industry on assignment - be it in Amsterdam, Nairobi, Charles de Gaulle, Tokyo - or up in the air.
The result varies from promotional images and corporate reportage, to documenting operations. It is my objective to photograph the natural moments as much as possible relying on my experience in the operations and the knowledge that a good atmosphere always arises.

During COVID the airline industry was affected immensely. From 2020 to 2022 I documented KLM behind the scenes to capture all the divisions and how they were impacted, all operations grounded or resorting to new and unexpected choices and procedures. It was a terrible time for the airline industry, for a photographer it was a gift.
